Prof. Indira Sarangthem

Prof. Indira Sarangthem (M.Sc, Ph.D) joined as Dean, Collge of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal, on 9th August 2019. Before she joined the present post, she served as Professor and Head of Department of Soil Science and Agricultural Chemistry, COA, CAU Imphal. She started her career as an Assistant Professor in June 1992 at the College of Agriculture, CAU Imphal, Manipur. She has been involved in soil chemistry/soil fertility research, teaching of U.G, P.G and Ph.D students and extension activities for the last 32 years. She has guided 50 M.Sc and 16 Ph.D students as a member advisory committee. She was awarded (i) Life Time Achievement award- from Society for scientific development in agriculture and technology, International Web Conference on Innovative and Current Advances in Agriculture and Allied Sciences (ICAAAS) during 19-21 July, 2021 (ii) Distinguished Scientist award- from Astha Foundation, International Web conference on Global Research Initiatives for Sustainable Agriculture during 13th 15th December, 2021 (iii) Certificate of Appreciation- from ICAR-Indian Institute of Soil Science-AICRP-MSPE, Bhopal (iv) Best Academician Award- from RVSKVV Gwalior, M.P. & Agri Meet Foundation, U.P. during the International Conference on “One Health-One World” on 28th– 29th  December, 2023. She also received the Best Institutional Film-State Agricultural University for “Transfering wetland to farming land in Manipur”, College of Agriculture, Central Agricultural University, Imphal which was awarded by National Institute of Agricultural Extension Management (MANAGE), Hyderabad on 22nd February, 2024. She has handled 17 externally and internally funded projects. Currently, she holds as the Principal Investigator of the project AICRP-MSPE, CAU, Imphal Centre and above she published 67 research papers in National and International journals, 23 popular articles for the benefit of farmers and other stakeholders, 14 books, 8 research bulletins and 4 training manuals. She has delivered 45 lectures in summer courses/trainings as a resource person. She has also acted as paper setter, external examiner, thesis evaluator and viva-voce examiner for different State Agricultural Universities and also reviewer for many journals. She have visited  Asiam Institute of Technology, Bangkok, Thailand and Tampere University, Finland and Stokholm University, Sweden.

Objective of the project are:

  1. To assess the impact of climate change on Natural Resources mainly water and land which has final impact on Agricultural activities.
  2. To identify climate smart technology suitable for South & South east Asia
  3. To share knowledge and expertise among professionals and strengthening networking

Major activities to achieve the objectives

  1. Conducting survey and Focus Group Discussion (FGD)
  2. Arranging workshop (in-person) in two countries- India and Thailand. Four Humphrey fellows from India, Thailand, Bangladesh and Myanmar will arrange the workshops with participation key resource persons and focus discussion groups who will address the issues of climate change and Water and food security.
  3. Watershed team from rural areas will also participate as target audience who are the stakeholders of the issues under discussion.
  4. A strong networking will be done among various stakeholder, policy and decision makers and professionals. For the first time, role of media in dissemination of the issues will be attempted. Leading media house from both the countries will participate fully in the events.

Mansee Bal Bhargava

Mansee Bal Bhargava is an entrepreneur, researcher, educator, speaker, mentor, and a keen political observer.
Her engagement is in the built environment that includes architecture design, development, planning, management, and governance of large-scale developments. With belief in sustainability and liveability, she is in practice for nearly three decades, a journey in which she has developed her inclination over water and women matters besides, managing the knowledge about them She is the Founder-Director of WforW Foundation and Research Entrepreneur at Environmental Design Consultants Ahmedabad. She also holds the position of National President at the Water Resources Council of the Women’s Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry leading a network of professional women leaders from the water sector from across the country.
